In a 6-3 ruling, the US Supreme Court on Friday reinstated the death sentence for Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, reversing a ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2015, a jury found Dzhokhar Tsarnaev guilty on all 30 charges.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev planted pressure cooker bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013.
Three people were killed in the Boston Marathon bombings and 280 others were injured, according to reports.
A police officer later was shot dead by the terrorist brothers.
All three left-wing Supreme Court justices dissented on Friday and argued the lower court “acted lawfully.”

The United States Supreme Court on Friday reinstated the death penalty sentence imposed on Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, reversing a lower court’s ruling.
In a 6-3 ruling, the court rejected defense arguments that the judge at Tsarnaev’s 2015 criminal trial incorrectly ruled on issues relating to the jury selection and evidence presented in the case.
“Dzhokhar Tsarnaev committed heinous crimes,” Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in the opinion of the court.
“The Sixth Amendment nonetheless guaranteed him a fair trial before an impartial jury. He received one. The judgment of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit is reversed,” Thomas wrote.
All six of the court’s conservatives voted to reinstate the death penalty. The three liberal justices all dissented. One of them, Justice Stephen Breyer, wrote in his dissent, “In my view, the Court of Appeals acted lawfully.”
